About The German Village Neighborhood

German Village is a historic neighborhood located in Columbus, Ohio. It was founded in the mid-19th century by German immigrants and was originally known as Hoster’s Brewery. The neighborhood is known for its brick houses and cobblestone streets, which give it a distinctive character.

German Village is also home to a number of highly-rated restaurants, boutiques, and other small businesses. It is a popular tourist destination and is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration.

The neighborhood is located just south of Downtown Columbus and is a popular place to live due to its proximity to the city center and its unique character. German Village is a designated historic district and is home to a number of important cultural and historical landmarks, including the German Village Meeting Haus and the Schmidt’s Sausage Haus.

It’s bordered by the Brewery District, Schumacher Place, Merion Village, and Downtown Columbus.
