The town’s hatred for alcohol grew so significant that in 1909, the Anti-Saloon League, responsible for prohibition in the early 20th century, moved their headquarters to Westerville, and the town became known as the ‘Dry Capital Of The World’. Only very recently, since around the 1990s and 2000s, has alcohol sale been allowed in Westerville.
